Okay so. I’m pretty sure everyone has heard about them. To my other blog I have reblogged stuff related to them, like petitions and stuff, but now I think it’s time to talk about this here too.

I admit it, I watch anime online a lot. But under the conditions I live, I think that’s the only possibility I have. If some of you didn’t already know, I live in Finland (Northen European country, kinda cold place). In Finland.. we kave kinda tiny amount of anime / japanese music in stores. Which means we have Ghibli movies, tiny amount of random anime movies which could propably be count with fingers in your two tiny hands, and just a few series, Fruits Basket, FMA, Hellsing.. The amount of those is propably under 10 too, but I’m not sure I can’t remember. This is all we have. Really. What we have had for years. Only new ones are mostly Gihbli’s (which I have almost all bought, and I’m planning on buying the rest of them too) but no new series. Never. And that really sucks.

But that’s not the only thing that sucks. I personally could watch animes with english subtitles on dvd and would be willing to pay for it too. But wtf how do you think I could do that with those fucking region codes..?? In Finland we watch dvd’s with region code 2 when in US you use 1..? Meaning we can’t watch dvd’s ordered from US meaning if we wanted to watch anime we should buy from Japan meaning we had no subtitles which would mean we should go and learn a new language. Yay..!

Not to mention that ordering overseas costs like hell.

..Wtf? If you asked me, remove the region codes, have better online shops and tinier dispatching costs and I’m in. It would only be cool to watch everything from TV.

The other thing I thought that would be good was a good online site which legally streamed anime with subtitles. It might be hard to run, but, again talking about how I personally feel, I definitely would be willing to pay about it..! But only if the site really was a good one. Like, if they streamed all of the airing animes, and maybe slowly subbed some older series too and added them for people to watch. For a good service like this I would be willing to pay and I mean something better than Crunchyroll. Or something that would work in all countries, not only in US…

These are only something I have thought in my tiny head, something that would replace the way we’ve been watching anime till now. But if SOPA/PIPA/ACTA continues, we will have nothing in places like Finland. We can’t buy anime at stores, we can almost never buy anything from overseas and we can’t watch anything on the internet.

I’m against this until we get a good enough replacement. Really. I also would like to listen Japanese music, but pretty much for same reasons would make it impossible. And the people deciding about these things expect us to accept this..? Don’t make me laugh.
